Vestibular Migraines & Dizziness

Nobody likes to experience a migraine headache, let alone a migraine accompanied by dizziness. Migraine headaches are fairly common neurological conditions that are characterized by moderate to severe pounding or throbbing headaches. Vestibular migraines, on the other hand, may or may not involve headaches as well as vestibular symptoms such as imbalance, nausea, vertigo, and vomiting.
With vestibular migraine, you may experience a combination of vestibular attacks, visual aura, or sensitivity to visual stimulation and motion. While it is not completely understood what causes vestibular migraine, symptoms tend to run in families. Women also tend to suffer more from this condition, and symptoms may worsen during menstruation.
At NYHD Institute for Hearing & Balance, we understand how uncomfortable and disruptive vestibular disorders can be, which is why we have created a multi-disciplinary approach to assess and manage these disorders. We partner with you, your physician, and vestibular physical therapists to create a comprehensive assessment and treatment plan.
